Genealogical Conference in Minneapolis
There is a major conference in Minneapolis this summer July 28-30. You will find all the details here – http://www.ggsmn.org/cpage.php?pt=83 – Click on the link at the bottom of the page for the flyer with more detail on the sessions.
Some independent locals are organizing another smaller conference, featuring our friend Stasa Cvetkovic, in conjunction with the international one. This one will, of course, be more focused on the Banat and surrounding areas. If you have any interest, please complete the survey below and return to Vicki Albu and to Stasa. Their email addresses are at the end of the survey.
We are conducting a survey in order to plan a program to be presented by Serbian genealogist specialized for Donauschwaben genealogy, Mr. Staša Cvetković, while he is in the Twin Cities this summer . Please take a few minutes to reply to this survey as soon as possible. Thank you!
a) Are you going to attend 2017 International Germanic Genealogy Conference from 28 – 30 July 2017 in Minneapolis?
b) Would you be interested in a related genealogy event that would occur either before or after that conference? MULTIMEDIA LECTURES by experienced genealogist from Serbia, Mr. Staša Cvetković, would address some of the important topics related to the GENEALOGY OF ETHNIC GERMANS in the area of today Romania, south Hungary including Slavonia, and Serbia (Banat, Batschka). Some of the subjects will cover:
· Civil records repositories and access to the records which are protected by privacy protection laws (usually 100 years);
· Use of land survey records in genealogy;
· Closing of the remaining gaps related to the parish records in the region;
· Private life of Banaters in 18th, 19th and the first half of 20th century with the special spotlight on the Banat earth architecture, regional cuisine, transportation and some other subjects.
· Your suggestions and questions related to the topics are very welcome, especially at this point of planning!
c) If you are interested, which day(s) would be best to hold the lectures? Wednesday 26 July; Thursday 27 July; Monday 31 July; Tuesday 01 August 2017? Would you attend a daylong event, or only evening(s)? We would like to point out that the most probable location for the lectures would be in South St. Paul, MN.
d) The price would be set to 40 USD for early registration for the daylong event (which will be opened around 20 April and would last until 15 June**) 50 USD for a daylong event registration after 15 June, 30 USD for the half of the daylong event (block of 3-4 lectures) .
**Tentative dates. We would inform you about the exact window for the early registration.
e) Mr. Staša Cvetković will be giving one-on-one genealogy consultations during his stay in Minneapolis. If you are interested, please e-mail directly to Mr. Cvetković at synergia@gmail.com with the description of your interest or genealogy problem. Please include a copy (CC) of your e-mail to the organizer, Mrs. Vicki Albu at valbu@comcast.net
f) If you are interested, would you like to receive the updates about the event by e-mail?
Please note that we are also planning an additional daylong seminar for Romanian Genealogy Society on one of these dates. Let us know if you would be interested in that program as well.
Please reply to both Staša Cvetković synergia@gmail.com and organizer Vicki Albu at valbu@comcast.net as soon as possible. Thank you!
